On July 10th, at the Commerce City Recreation Center, Colorado Representatives Cherylin Peniston (Dist.-35) and May Hodge (Dist.-30) hosted a town hall meeting to discuss rising gasoline prices. Joining them were representatives from AAA Colorado, RTD, oil companies, and petroleum marketers. Also present was Edward Casso (Dist.-32) and State Senator Stephanie Takis (Dist.-22) as well as several concerned citizens including Commerce City Mayor Paul Natale, Councilman Orval Lewis and School District-14 President Jeanette Lewis.

Investigation of more contaminated soil under way at Rocky Mountain Arsenal

The Rocky Mountain Arsenal, in conjunction with regulatory agencies, is investigating the discovery of a small area of additional contaminated soil east of the Former Basin F, which once was used to dispose of hazardous wastes from the production of pesticides and chemical-warfare agents.

It was an historic event in several ways. It was probably the first time a current Commerce City Mayor invited past Mayors, Mayors Pro-tem and Councilmembers to join him in an informal luncheon. It was also a time when the historical past of the City was explored with the leaders who laid the groundwork making Commerce City what it is today.
